The selection process will ensure that the most qualified applicants are selected based on academic merit
with consideration given to financial need and increasing participation of minorities, underrepresented
genders, and persons with disabilities. The applicants are required to meet the following criteria:
- Must be an undergraduate student majoring in STEM areas
- Must meet the admission requirements of the TAMUK Educator Preparation Program
- Must meet a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Recommend to participate in Noyce Summer Internship
Once the F(ST)2
program is inaugurated, the Advisory Scholarship Committee will be established
consisting of representatives from the TAMUK Noyce Leading Team, the two-year community colleges
(South Texas College, Texas State Technical College, and Del Mar College), and Independent School
Districts (Kingsville ISD, Corpus Christi ISD, and Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD). Student applicants are
required to submit an application form, curriculum vitae, three recommendation letters, transcripts from
all universities or colleges attended, and a 2-page essay describing the applicant’s interests in STEM
education in high-need schools.
All relevant application documents can be submitted through F(ST)2
website. The Advisory Scholarship committee will evaluate all applications taking into account information contained within overall GPA, letters of references, and their interest in STEM education.
The committee will take into consideration academic merit, minority participation, and gender. Each
student will be interviewed by the committee. To finalize the selection process, selected candidates will
sign a contract to agree to uphold their academic standing, participation requirements within the F(ST)2
program, teaching commitment obligation, and reporting requirements necessary for future tracking.
